Description
This piece was created as part of a study in chiaroscuro during my time at Studio West in Toronto, under the supervision of Keita Morimoto. Following in the tradition of Caravaggio's signature style, Tenebrismo, hard lights and sharp shadows contrast as a means to isolate the figure. This technique creates drama and heightens a sense of tension.
This painting is meant as a centerpiece to a room. Its bold shapes, strong contrast and subtle color nuances command attention which makes the piece an impactful accent. It looks fantastic alongside bold maximalist design.
This piece is sold accompanied by an authenticity certificate.

A helpful approach to choosing a painting to add to your collection is to match the artwork’s colors to the tones already present in your space, or to choose a piece that offers a striking complementary contrast. You may also consider the format and orientation of the artwork; for example, if you plan to hang two pieces together, they often look most cohesive when both are horizontal or both are vertical. - What if I don’t like it?
