Winged Scarab

The Winged Scarab piece is available on the shop. Painted to give the illusion of replicating ancient Egyptian artistry, this "Winged Scarab" oil painting captures the mystical essence of protective deities. However, it's painted  from a Chinese-made mass-produced item which is an important part of the read. (Head's up: I think China is awesome! This is a comment on mass production & globalization of culture, nothing against China lol). The composition features a gold-colored amulet rendered with attention to contemporary-period iconography, and symbolic elements that represent omissions and modification typical of Orientalism. This piece is a comment on orientalism.
